In the image above you can see that the positions of the links differ from one country to another.
For example, in Iran the average position of the links is 8, and in the United States it is 38, while the impressions there are very good. If you lift that position, the country can bring in a solid click-through rate.
Paying attention to impressions in SEO is very important. They tell you how much your link was seen, and therefore the most clicks you could possibly receive.
Say you hold the second Google position, with 100,000 impressions and 20,000 clicks. That means if you became the first Google result, the most clicks landing on your site is still 100,000. Not all impressions turn into clicks, of course, but it can show how many clicks your competitors are taking.
Attention to impressions and to geographic position can have a strong effect on your local SEO.
